Goat flooring
« on: November 08, 2007, 01:58:54 AM »
Good flooring for your goats is important, most will use bamboo for flooring and it does work, some drawbacks, will always smell no matter how times you wash it,takes longer to dry. There is a product made for goat flooring, plastic, expensive but easier to clean, less odors, dries fast. Will try this flooring in our new goat barn now under construction, the rough estimate we have now, will work out to cost about 1200.00 P per goat.not cheap, one may save in the long run with lower maintance and labour cost, and healthier stock.

Doc,was reading a story about goat pee, they say if your goats graze on your land.their pee helps to get rid of termites and the red mite which affects poultry, interesting.

Haven't heard of it but if it is true and someone produce it commercially/synthetically then it is another source of income for them.

There are flooring which are plastic used for dogs and sometimes it also used in livestock. Usually it is available in large poultry supply. There are also "Mik plastic" that are much expensive but more durable.

Mastitis (infected udder) sometimes happens because your floor pens and feeding area are not clean enough and bacteria enters the udder through the teats. If you use a wooden floor, one must keep the floor as clean as possible at all times, goats hate to stand on wet floors and can develope hoof problems.

i used the plastic matting designed for goats.got it from jef lim of tarlac at 130pesos a piece..a little pricey.

goat manure we use on TP's for our fightingcocks for redmites..dont really know if it works but its a good fertilizer for our plants surrounding the tp's.
