Perfume Business
We make scents, Mindanao’s pioneer perfume refill station, was established as a response to a demand to make available original designer perfumes at popular prices. Two bright young entrepreneurs, Reselin Lapiz-Francisco and Rene Macasaet Francisco came up with the unique concept following a growing trend among Davao’s GenXrs to put up businesses of their own.
The first we make scents outlet was opened on April 20, 1999, at the Gaisano Mall of Davao. It started with a capitalization of Php 150,000.00 and ten (10) brands of designer perfumes. The first few months of business was very encouraging, so other items were added like hydrating body mists, hand sanitizers, hand & body lotions, herbal soaps, moisturizing hand wash, aromatherapy oils plus of course more brands of the mainstay-designer perfumes.
Since the first store was doing well, a second we make scents outlet was opened on December 8, 1999 at the Victoria Plaza, Davao City’s first shopping mall. The Victoria Plaza branch started as a kiosk type showcase at the second floor. As business picked up, it was transferred to a bigger and better location at the ground floor on January 18, 2001.
The success of the first two ventures inspired the owners of we make scents to offer it for franchise. The first franchisee opened an outlet at the 2nd level of NCCC Mall, Tagum City. Branches swiftly followed at Gaisano South City Mall Ilustre , NCCC Mall Ma-a, Davao Central Warehouse Club Panabo City , Lachmi Shopping Center San Pedro and KCC Mall General Santos City , all in a short span of one year.
Seeking to capture the market in the fast growing business centers outside of Mindanao the proprietors then opened the 9th branch in Gaisano City Mall Bacolod City on January 29, 2005.
The expansion continues with the inauguration of the Iloilo branch on the 8th of May 2005 and the SM Cebu branch soon after.
