Hi Doc Nemo, I want to know what is the size of Weaning Pen for ten (10) piglets (max). The height
of the pen and if elevated, what is the elevation from the ground ? How long or how many kilos the piglets will stay on weaning pen before they are transfered to fattening pen ?

a 2 x 2 meter pen could accommodate 10 piglets. Height of the partition could be 50-70 cm and if elevated around 30-50 cm from the ground.

They can stay there to about 30 days.

   good day po..sa nabili ko po na 2,100sqmeters na lupa at natanung ko po na kung kasya ang 30sow level ang sabi nyo po pwede at nabigay nyo rin po kng ilang farrowingpen,gestating at fattening pen ang kakailanganin..tanung ko lang po doc kakailanganin ko pa po ba ng weaning pen dito?para saan po ba ang weaning pen?ok lang po ba kahit wala nito basta kumpleto ka sa fattening pen?at kung sakali doc pwede ko pa po ba i-extend kahit 50sow level?thank you po doc and more power...

Weaning pen ay pwedeng optional especially kung nagstart ka palang. Kadalasan kasi yun farrowing pen na rin ang ginagawang temporary weaning pen.

Pero kung 50 sow ang target mo better na meron ka nang sariling weaning pen.

Kasya pa rin naman ang 50 sow level sa 2000sq meter kaso the more animal per square meter  dumadami ang problem so better increase to 5000 sq meter or up.

I think  some institution will suggest half hectare for 10 sow level. This is a very ideal but personally it think this is not economical.

Weaning pen could be optional. But if you want to go to 50 sow level then you need to have it .

Weaning pen is an elevated pen. It looks like a farrowing pen without the sow pen in the middle.

If you would go to 50 sow better have a 5000 sq meter area. Although you could squeeze it in the 2100 sq meter, the more animal per square area the more problem you will encounter.

I'm planning to construct a weaning pen just above our fattening pen.
Doc, what is the possible height from the ground of the weaning pen para
di maabot ng fatteners and at the same time di naman mahirap sa caretaker
to feed and remove the piglets ? Thanks.

Kung by the book around 1.3-1.5 meters or mataas lang ng konti sa partisyon ng kulungan.

Meron ilang babuyan na ganito pero mas gamit kasi yun hiwalay ang weaning pen.  Dis advantage kasi sa panahon ng tag init at ito kasi kahit papaano nagiging sagabal sa lamig ng kulungan.

ano po bang advantage ng merong elevated na weaning pen..  kasi ung mga biik ko po derecho na agad sa fattening pen pagkawalay.. ok lang po ba yun?

Some raising kasi nakakita sila ng magandang growth rate kapag from elevated flooring to cement flooring ang transition ng kanilang animal...


Ok lang din po naman na from farrowing pen to fattening na agad. Wala naman masama kung tutuusin.

Ano po kayang mainam na gawin sa kalawang para matanggal sa pen?
Ok lang po ba na may mga stains?

doc ano po ba ideal size and design ng septic tank par sa 5 sow level.ty

i am not sure kung ano ideal pero the best na is yun malaki especially kung may balak ka for expansion.

pangtanggal po ng kalawang.... lilihahin po muna to.. or use steel brush.... after that pipinturahan po ng primer tapos po enamel
