goat diet (concentrates)

Our goats are fed pig crumble for their concentrates because it works the best in terms of protein,in the process now of planting corn,soyabeans,whole wheat,barley.mongobeans,soyabeans having more protein than mongobeans.I would like to know what ratio I need to mix 100 kilos at a time,how much corn kilos to whole wheat and barley and soyabeans will add salt,brown sugar,oyster shell,dried seaweed.

I am not that good in nutrition but i could give you a formula taken from one of the books in goat farming here.

Corn = 12 kgs
ricebran=24kgs
Copra=40 kgs
soy meal=8 kg
meat and bone= 10 kgs
molasses= 5 kgs
salt= 1kgs

it should be given at 0.2-0.8 kg per head

Nemo,thank-you for your help,we should be able to make a good concentrates formula with the information you have given,as for the importing of terminal sire(s),I will try Austrade in Manila,looking for a special breed that is not in the Philippines yet,we are in Region 7 uplands people and the Govt. office here cannot help us. Doc.Nemo,here in N.America dairy animals are given silage to help them produce more milk,wondering if silage is common in the Philippines.

Silage is given here for fattening cattle, usually big cattle ranch do this.

They use a big plastic to cover all the grasses so it will ferment. IN other country they use silo or a tank where they put all the materials.

From a far it looks like a black hills and inside it is the silage

To be honest i am not sure. BUt i do believe that you do not need to coked it for ruminant. They can digest it better compared to monogastric animals like swine.

This may be of some help to other producers:alto we have tried this ourselves with only limited sucess it is taken from SALT 2 Technlogies:
Concentrates (high energy) Dairy goats
Give them feeds in the morning and in the afternoon
18% first class rice bran
23% corn,grain or rice
21% copra meal
36% ipil-ipil leaf meal
1% limestone

A good forage mixture
55% desmondium rensonii
20% congesta
20% gliricidia sepium
 5% ipil-ipil
Goats given daily rate of forage at least 10% of their body weight.Half in the morning and the other half in the afternoon,provide your goats with salt and plenty of water every day.
When using the cut and carry system,be careful when cutting during the rainy season,best to cut greens above knee level,reason,worms on the plants,the rainy season is a problem for all goat producers.
