MANILA, Philippines – The 20th edition of the Hog
Convention and Trade Exhibits (HogCon) which
will be held on March 17 to 19 will be celebrated in
a very Filipino fashion – fiesta style.
The HogCon will carry the theme: “Strengthening
the Hog Industry in the Face of Global Challenges”
and will be held at the Forum of the PICC in Pasay
City. It will feature seminars and workshops, and
a host of exhibits catering to the various needs of
the hog industry.
Trade exhibitors will showcase their latest
products and services to thousands of
individuals, groups and companies involved in
the hog industry and its allied sectors.
Another highlight of the gathering will be the 4th
Backyard Hog Congress which focuses on the
needs of the backyard hog farmers who
comprise 70 percent of the industry.
“We are very happy to have reached this
milestone,” said Edwin Chen, convention
chairman and incoming ProPork president. “We
want to celebrate the occasion in a big way
because it is also our way of thanking everyone
who has continued to support us in setting up
the HogCon every year. ”
The major sponsors of HogCon are Boehringer

other hand, the minor sponsors are Famous

Albert Lim Jr., current ProPork president and
incoming chairman, expects thousands of
participants to join the event. “This will be the
biggest HogCon since we started. We are
working hard to make sure that participants will
not only learn new things but that they will enjoy
the celebration. ”
He said that the three-day gathering is part of the
group ’s mission to promote the interest of the
hog raisers and enhance the P160-billion hog
industry ’s opportunities for growth, efficiency,
equity and sustainability.
