The Philippines is a goat producing country,there are sizeable numbers of goats in country.The country is a major importer of dairy products,The producers hope to change this in the near future with more dairy commercial farms investing in this business venture and overseas investors.The recent exporting of live goats from Region 12 will help the industry as a whole.Malaysia is a major importer of live goats,this is another market for our industry but we need Govt. help.Australia is the worlds major exporter of live and frozen carcasses.Malaysia is a market that Australia exports too.Philippine goat producers have their eyes on this market also.China is another country that has plans for a national goat industry.The Philippine Goat Producers wish to have our share of the pie.The goat producers of the Philippines have available,top quality fullblood sires for the improvment of our herds.In the future the Philippine Goat Producers will have sizable numbers ready for export.This is one area of farming that looks bright.

With Australia producing over 50% of the world goat meat.The numbers of boer and boer crosses continues to rise as farmers and grazers turn to goat meat production as a profitable alternative enterprise.Majority,about 90% of the goats are exported to Malaysia.Independant goat producers in the Philippines are eyeing export markets for their own stocks,with Cebu being a major port and the location of Cebu itself being a perfect receiving and shipping point,its hard to wait on the sidelines as some producers now have secured foreign capital for investment.Nobody wants to be left out.The industry still needs Govt. guideance to help us secure our own piece of the action.Sooner is better than later.

Just a reminder:anyone with atleast 1 breeding doe in their backyard can be a FREE MEMBER of the INDEPENDANT PRODUCERS OF THE PHILIPPINES just list your region.We may be a loose group of farmers but we count also in the big picture,the larger our numbers the more say we will have in any future decisions about our business venture(s).Thanks to Doc.Nemo for starting this forum to help the small producer,unable to afford the member fees for the larger federations and attending Govt. forums on goat raising.I hope all information here may be of some use to any or all who will to use it.I hope to see other producers (posting) so we may help each other.    Good Farming

INDEPANDANT CONSTITUTION:
1-Educate the general public about the uses of meat goats in Philippine agriculture and cusinine.
2-Promote environmentally responsible uses of grazing pastures.
3-explore long term markets at home and abroad.
4-encourage and help promote direct marketing strategies by the producer.
5-promote goat meat,development of high quality,lean value-added products.
6-promote goat meat in restaurants and hotels,from a health and cuisine aspect.
7-promote and encourage meat goats at livestock shows.
8-establish uniformity in meat goat standards.
9-provide educational information on the principles of selection for increased reproduction and weight gain.
10-offer the opportunity for the purchase of high quality breeding stock,and/or allowing breeding sires for A.I. to other small producers in your area.
