wala naman problema sa hog farmer. i dont know sa viajero side naman kasi once nilabas na nila ang baboy sa farm cargo na ng viajero lahat ang expenses pati dead pig sa truck it's there loss already. Gensan (including tacurong, uppervalley n cotabato) sell 45 to 50,000 hds a month to visayas and luzon. all are ship out
I thought you do it end to end, from your farm to you customer in other parts of the country.
Thanks for the info.

We looked into shipping up north but the catch is on credit only, one has to wait to be paid,we like to work on cash only. Some people at our place shipped to Manila by credit,2 months later they were still waiting to get paid.Shipping any livestock some distance, one has to accept shipping losses, what is your shipping loss %,do you buy insurance for shipping losses??Who pays for the losses??My sister in law and her husband ship rice from the Visayas to Manila.

Some biyaheros/middle man will ask for credit. Usually their customer in the market will also ask them some credit terms.
I remember my boss saying that in big supermarket they would ask for a very long credit because of the bulk order.
I don't no in the shipping aspect but in luzon if an animal die while in the way to the abattoir sometimes the abbattoir will not accept it. It is considered as double dead. So, what the biyahero's will do is to take it to their stall and process it as tocino, longanisa etc.
Shipping loss also include animal that get loose. It jump over the vehicle and run away.

Yup, especially if the truck is too small and the animal is over crowded. They use the back of the other pigs as their spring board and jump over the truck.

Doc, that may work if one has no debts to pay,set up one of the operations will feed credit. The store expects to be paid as soon as the hogs are sold, that is our agreement, just paid them last week a 5 figure sum.I have seen trucks loaded down in the Philippines with sugar cane.
Happy New Doc.

middleman/viajero earned 7 to 10 pesos net. i also tried shipping hog to manila . huwag lang masyado mapaniwala sa bola ng mga middleman/viajero . careful careful on credit system. maraming viajero/middleman on
running condition
they will not pay you at the end of the day.hindi ba ninyo na pansin na mas mayaman na ang buyer ng baboy compare sa hog owner and mas matapang pa ang buyer kaysa hog owner. kung hindi ka bababa ng presyo they gonna import pork meat and they will use your money to buy kaya huwag mag pa utang talaga.
Department Stores term (SM ,Macro ,Robinson and etc...) 7 to 45 days , Processors term 30 to 45 days (Pampro ,Pampi ,monterey , purefoods, sunpride and etc....) pero sure buyer ito . never sell hog to viajero/middleman on 7to 15 days term they will just gonna use your money
on there other business

SOme part of bulacan biyahero's will ask a 2 weeks credit but in return they will pay additional 2-3 pesos per kilo.
Just be sure that you are dealing with a biyahero with a good reputation and also meat processor.
There are still cash buyers but they are a handful now a days.
In my previous work it took maybe 2-3 months before this certain meat processor in pampanga pay our customers.

Boys, you guys are a wealth of information. We need cash as to pay off our feed credit,a agreement is a agreement, a legal binding contract. Our arrangement is a test case and may open the way for others.
Happy New Years boys and the very best in your farming ventures for the future.

there's no problem shipping hog from gensan to any part of the country.its already 50 years old trading . 45 to 50,000 hds a month is based on gov't statistics. this including backyard and commercial farm.by the way gensan is second biggest hog producer in the country the 1st one is bulacan ,manila
Hi Slyfox.
