Yes, it is possible that because of the construction you have many still born. The sounds/noise made by construction may agitated them.

Still born means that your sows have a problem in the last part of its pregnancy. SO, if the construction started about a month or  a month and half before your sow farrowed then the likelyhood that it is the cause increases.

If you have mummified piglets it means that the problem arises in the 2nd trimester of the pregnancy or in the 2nd month of the pregnancy.

If you have a sow that farrowed 5 piglets it means that the sow encountered a problem in the first month of pregnancy.

Also to add if they weld using electric welding machine and connect the ground part to the metal, small current will travel throughout the gestating pen on which if there is a sow on the opposite side no matter how many gestating pen apart they are the small current might affect the piglet inside.

Mr. Hog correct me if im wrong your farm is ready to accommodate around 80 sows?

Having the lever system is good for your sow. in some farm they feed their sow manually the tendency  sow become agitated because they are waiting for their food to be delivered. This cause stress and may affect the pregnancy of the sow.

Using the lever system you just need to pull or bring down the lever then all the sow could eat at the same time. And while they are eating you will just refill the receptacle/orange pvc so it would be ready for the next feeding time.

Cement mixer will do the job also.

IF you can find a feed mixer with the same price as a cement mixer then much better.

One friend of my only use a shovel to mix their feed. They just lay all the ingredients in the floor and then shovel it back and forth.

The rule they use is that mix first the one with smaller quantities, example the smallest quantities to be mix is copra and molasses, they will first mix this. IF it is already mixed together they will mix it to the next ingredient so on up to the largest ingredient.

Those who have 100 sow above usually mixed their own feeds. And they customized it according to the breed they have in their farm. The source of ingredients sometimes from local area or abroad.

If they don't the machinery to do it they just ask feed millers to mixed it for them in accordance to their specs. and they will pay a certain fee for the milling of it.

Okay
6071  LIVESTOCKS / SWINE / Re: Cost to maintain a 5-sow level on: October 02, 2007, 11:29:35 PM
It is possible the only hindrace is the shelf life of the feeds.  usually a feed would be good for 2 months (pellet).  Usual mode of transfer of goods is through ship because it is much cheaper. If you will aircargo it,  it might jack up the price of the feeds.

In the philippines the feed millers associations import corn by bulk so they could have a better deal in the price of corn and other ingredients.

Big farm buy ingredients abroad and they mix it here. Some of these farm sell their feeds at a much cheaper price compared to commercial feed company.

You could try this link within this forum mga name ng farms ito. Although medyo di ko na siya nauupdate dahil sa sobrang  busy ko sa work ngayon.

6074  LIVESTOCKS / CATTLE, CARABAO, GOAT & SHEEP / Re: Goat Polio on: September 29, 2007, 07:56:12 AM
He,he,he stupid me!
Now i know why the local government of Gen san didn't reply.

When i read that you are asking about polio my mind  is thinking about polio same as human which is transmissible from animal to animal. I did not check the data per see for i am to busy. SOry for that, i am not a goat practioner that why some of my idea was mixed with other diseases.

Deficiencies are not transmissible. Even if they are smuggled in the country it would not have a medical impact. But still smuggling is a No, NO, NO.

More often than not because of the internet and other media,  problems (goat polio) like this is blown out of proportion. Rumors tends to make it more evil than it should be.

So, i would say the problem is not the goat polio but the smuggling. Concern should be directed to smuggling.
