it should be us to dictate the price not the buyer. but if you came from rich country (like you) i think you can sell your pig @ cheaper price here in the philippines.

There are 2 federations,one for the commercial sector,Hog Federation and BHORS,for us Independant and backyard producers.The Hog Federation price list is for the membership only,is not given to us Independant and backyard producers.I have been informed that one may realize a P5.00-P10.00 price difference per kilo liveweight if not a member of the Hog Federation,this varies from region and location and your market.Where does, where one comes from have any importance,sounds like RACISM at its finest.Chill out.For your information,the Philippines is DEPENDANT on FOREIGN CAPITAL,ask your own GOVERNMENT.

I want to shed some light on the issue of the 5-10 peso difference. It is normal in this country that as you buy bulk or sell bulk you will be given incentive.

The price of commercial farm (whether you are a member of the hog federation or not) is most of the times 5-10 pesos higher. Reason behind this is that the biyahero or middleman will have steady supply of hogs from the commercial farm. This steady supply is what the backyard cannot provide.

Example. If a truck with a 30 pig capacity  will go to a commercial farm in just a matter of minutes to an hour they can already proceed to the abattoir or meat processing plant because the farm can supply them 30 at a given time.

While in a backyard situation most of the time they will go to one piggery pick up 10 pigs then go to another piggery pick another 10 etc... So it would be time consuming, labor consuming, and add the gasoline to the travel cost.

I do not agree that there is a 5-10 difference but the law of supply and demand is controlling it. So, like what i always say, to address this problem start within your community. Build a cooperative or try to gather all swine raisers in your area and ask them to sell at a particular price only or ask them to sell it to a particular biyahero. And ask that particular biyahero that he/she could be the exclusive buyer of your area as long as he/she will pay at a commercial price level.

How can we use the price that is posted here for our advantage. Let say in bulacan it state that the price is 105-118 so minus -5 that would be 100 to 113. The average is 106.5, so if possible don't go below this price. Although backyard price in bulacan today is 107. So, commercial price would be our barometer. There are still many ways to consider on selling your hogs but it is still best that atleast you have a ball park figure of the current liveweight price.

Now i see. If you are on the shoes of the biyahero or middleman, will you buy the hogs of backyard at 93-100 pesos (cebu gate price)? Ofcourse  not coconut!! I would rather buy it on lower price.
