Hi Doc,

If you have the budget the best source of sow are those accredited breeding farms.

The best place to build a farm is those area which is agricultural and away from nearby houses and accessible by trucks/ vehicle.

if the nearest house in your area is about 50 meters and you will just put 10 pigs and clean it regularly smell would not be a problem.

Why not start at your place and later on expand to your secondary site. Livestock raising is not for everyone but it is a rewarding business.

In terms of feeds try those feeds which have a highest demand in your and area and have a constant supply. Usually, this brand have already proven its worth.  As a beginner i would suggest that you start in commercial feeds first.

hello doc,

I found na marami ang nag-access sa site na ito.
I become interested to learn more about hog raising.

Actually, I already started with 6. Nabenta na ang 4. Yon nga lang hindi ito umabot sa
sa expected weight. Break even lang talaga ang kita. But I still want to continue.

So, can I ask a copy of FS . It's good to have something to refer to.
You may email it to ctc_laarni@hotmail.com

Thank you sir nemo,Another question is, how can we be sure of the bloodline of the gilts? Is it the usual practice of the breeder to show/give records of the gilt to authenticate their breed.
Do you think it's more economical to buy a pureblood/purebred largewhite/landrace and just pay for the boar service to produce F1 piglets which in turn would become F1 gilts, I know it will take a long time to produce F1 gilts with this option but moneywise do you think it would be better.

Nice to know your roots come from Baliuag :D .I had a classmate form Hinukay when i was in high school at MPHS way back mid 90's,his last name was Castillo forgot the first name though, it could be you. hehehe

They will give a record of the animal.

If there is a good A.I. center in your area then it is okay.

Price wise Parent stock is expensive  but if you plan to get your F1 from this it will offset the price naman. It will take longer but it is much cheaper naman.

Dito na ako lumaki sa metro manila
