day old chicks in N.America are sexed by their colour. From my understanding the darker yellow chicks may mean males and the lighter yellow chicks maybe females.Feather sexing is also used on day old chicks.I know one thing forsure,in 2 orders of day old white legg horn egg layers 10% turned out to be males which translates into a loss of 50 eggs a day or 350 eggs in 7 days so it can be a very expensive venture for the producer when any of these sexing methods are misdirected.
