POULTRY / Re: sasso breed
« on: April 11, 2011, 09:45:40 PM »

That was the reason why solraya suddenly stopped the production of the F1 sasso for laying eggs and meat purposes. That was been imphasized that sasso F1 are not intended for breeding purposes. The reason is the produce will not be consistent as the original F1. I still have 1 sasso hen left in my yard and still kept on laying eggs mated with my pure Jolo cock but for the table only. I enjoyed eating her eggs when I was still at home. Now I am back to work here in Qatar and I really missed the eggs so healthy and less colesterol. During the opening of the Panaad festival in Bacolod I acquired 8 chicks and the seller told me that they were all pure breeds of Kabir. But at first glance of the chicks I know they were all sasso breeds the normal chicks and the Volture breed. I know because I have 1 volture sasso that reaches 7 kilos before I make adobo. Now can I ask somebody if this chicks are really Kabir? Brown in color but I am doubt but still bought 8 chicks and just left to my children to cared them and ready for adobo after 3 months or 100 days.

ORGANIC FARMING / Re: Organic Farm in Negros Occidental

Hi Aleckxis,

This farm is in Silay City.

As of this writing there is no certified organic farm yet in Bacolod city.

Thank you Sir. I will try to visit your farm soon when I come home. I have heard Sir Primo Esleyer (Visayan Daily star) has its own too. Good luck to your farm. And thank you to our new Governor also to continue the legacy of his brother to make Negros as Organic Capital.

BUSINESS CONCEPTS / Re: Presyuhan ng mga biik

Hi Weill,

Ano ba ang gusto ? Breeding or pang benta for slaughter ?
If breeding, better visit the big breeding farms . If for slaughter naman
at Duroc.

Hello Brod, can you please assist me also a good and quality piglets in Bacolod. I contacted Jaltas in Bago and V4 in Dolid. Do you know any smalltime piggery here in Bacolod and can you recommend me? I already disposed my 10 fatteners yesterday. Last time I follow your adviced and we went to Burgos market. Mga Uberas ang naka kuha. salamat ulit.

SWINE / Re: How to measure your pig weight?
« on: July 08, 2010, 10:35:21 PM »
Here’s a rather efficient way of obtaining your pig’s weight. This is best done at feed time, however a pig’s head needs to be up to get the best measurement.
1.   Measure the pigs heart girth (HG) right behind the front legs.
2.   Measure between the ears to the base of the tail (L).
3.   Multiply the heart girth measurement (HG) times itself, then multiply that times the length measurement (L).
4.   Now, divide that sum by 400. This is your approximate live weight.
The weigh formula is HG X HG X L/ 400 = WEIGHT.

Doc nemo,

  It this rue???

if not is there another way/s??

The result will be in english measurement (Pounds) Just devide it with 2.2 then = Kgs?

SWINE / Re: Hog Farm Gate Price
« on: June 27, 2010, 03:48:46 PM »
mata mata is the worst kind of trading in hog business.

Always ask for a scale or if not possible  Atleast know your expenses then add 10% to it, then that would be the lowest offer that you should accept.. so in your case

53000 +5300 = 58,300... again lowest ito especially kapag gipitan.
But currently around 20-40 percent is the average earnings.

So, the technique is asked them for a higher price (around 25%) then for sure they will to barter again. And through this bartering hope that they will offer at 15-20% earnings.

Just keep to yourself your computation. If they asked you how much did you spend then add 10% to your real expenditure and thats the number you will tell them

Sir Nemo,

I just want to confirm why Pig buyers in Bacolod never practiced this method of Live weight buying instead they are making it mata mata (Estimate). I am a small time back yard fatteners. I have 10 fatteners and ready to be dispose with in this month but sad to say today this unscrupulous buyers (butchers) (not runners) went to our farm and estimated value of 50 thousand pesos for 10 heads? I normally practicing what the commercial feeds advices to their customer. I used excel products from pre starter to finishers and its almost 5 months old from birth now.My rough estimate weight maybe will not below 80kg/head. My farm is in Alangilan 8 kms. from Bacolod. And we almost spent 53 thousands pesos but then They are trying to buy our fatteners for 50t.

If anybody from this board who are from Bacolod please help. I am new to this business and just learnt some knowledge thru Sir NEMO advices.
This is my care taker Cell phone no. +639334310942. If any body from Bacolod who are interested. Please ask Joel.

 Maraming salamat po.

 Aleckxis

So what they did in their next batch ay nagpakain na sila ng kanin baboy, kasi lugi sila pag commercial feeds lahat ang ipakain sa
mga baboy. I think mas mataas yata ang L.W. price if sabit ulo na. Try to go to palengke ( Burgos, Central Market and Libertad )at magtanong-tanong.

Sir Sanico,

Salamat po sa advice I may try in Burgos market medyo malapit lang sa amin and besides halos sila sila rin ang makikita mo sa ibang public market sa atin. Sana ma dispose ko ang 10 fatteners ko by end of this month.

I think the estimated price of your buyer is too low. Average LW is 60 plus. That's not reasonable. The LW that they should offer should be the same with the current gate price. If not it should be a little lower but not too much. I am new to this business also. Just offer your fatteners to other good buyers. God bless your business..

Thanks a lot. I will just wait for the right buyers with in this month and hope they will offer the LIVE WEIGHT system at hindi na yong mata mata lang. Maraming salamat ulit. GOD BLESS TOO!!!

DO we really need to dig up the  floor(soil) up to 1m deep before putting the ricehull,CRH and river/beach sand beddings?Thank u!:)

kira.... no need to dig as 1m deep. you only need to bed the flooring made of concrete for about 6" thick made of 50-50 river sand or beach sand and rice hull. please go back to the top of this topic its very informative and i am so thankful I hope I can apply this in my small piggery when I come home early of september.

This is taken from the pamphlet of ACE FEEDS feeding program

Type of feeds
booster
pre starter
starter
grower
finisher
age of animal
6-35
36-60
61-90
91-120
121-up to market
kg of feed per day
0.10
0.60
1.20
2.2
2.8

I could not find the weight per stage.
More often in backyard setting feeds is given according to age of animal and not in weight for it would be stressful for the animal to weigh them

Those who are old timers in the business could estimate the weight of the animal by merely looking at them. By this means they adjust the feed according to the weight of the animal.
