Hi,
Gusto ko pa sana humingi ng information tungkol sa feasibility study ng hog raising like magkano ung initial capital ( e.g. for 10 piglets ), ROI, details ng kulungan ( e.g. number of pig/piglet in one cage, dimension, cost, etc ), expenses sa feeds, current price ng piglet, number of days para maibenta ung baboy, etc.
May vacant lot po kasi kami sa likod ng bahay namin. Iniiisip ko po na magpatayo ng kulungan para sa 10 baboy if in case na feasible talaga tong hog raising business.

This is a simple ROI to guide you in this business.
10 piglets, you would not hire a worker, 4 months harvest/sale and will load again after 1 month.
20 000= for housing(alot 2t per head) this is a decent housing you can use other materials like bambo,
cocolumber to lessen the cost.
18 000= cost of 10 piglets(farm price)
36 000= cost of feeds (average of 4 sacks per animal at 900).
500 = medication(vitamins etc)
800 = electricity and water( 200 per month).

target weight 85 kgs at 75 pesos liveweight x 10 animal
=63750

-55300/10= 5530 cost to produce per head

sales 8450= or [845 per head/5530]/100=15.28%
20 000= housing
8 450=sales (after 4 months)

8 450= 2nd harvest( 5 months after 1st harvest included is 1 month rest to disinfect housing)

so it would take around 1 year and 2 months before you recover your investment. to be safe you could say after 1-2 years your business should be earning. In large farm it is estimated that ROI is around 2-3 years.
note: liveweight of hog range from 70 to 90 pesos this year.
Dimension of housing 0.8-1 square meter per animal. You could make a 3x4 dimension so you could load up to 12 piglets Height of the pen is 1 meter. If you are facing the pen the width is 4 meter and this part should contain the feeder. Flooring should be slanted a little so water could drain in the opposite side of the feeder.
Like all business it is a risk pero gaya nang sabi nila alang yumayaman sa pagiging empleyado lang. Try to survey for price of feeds in your area and current liveweight then try to use it to make your own ROI. Iba iba area kasi iba iba ang range ng feeds and liveweight. Try to communicate sa mga backyard sa area nyo para makakuha kayo ng additional idea.

If you would start around 3 piglets and you will rent a land i would not recommend that you continue your business.
You will only earn big in swine by means of volume. If you start small and will rent a land then the profit you would gain from selling your produce would just be enough for the rental of the land.
Better engage in paiwi system if you cannot personally manage your piggery or if you do not have land.
In the paiwi system your partner will provide the housing, labor and electricity while you will provide the pig, feeds and medicine. And at the day of harvest/slaughter what ever profit you will have will be divided. If you incur loss then losses will also be divided.

Breed of sow usually it is between landrace and largewhite.
At 8 months of age or 110 kg or somebooks says 120 kg above and the animal had heat 2 times then you can use it already.
Try flushing the animal so you could increase the number of piglet. THere is a detailed instruction here about flushing.
Artificial insemination is okay especially if the semen came from a reputable AI center.

IF large scale ang kanilang target just assume 100T-150 thousand per sow ang kanilang gastos.
This include land, housing, feeds, medicine , etc.
The FS that i have is just for simple backyard raising.
If you want a more detailed one just email me if your target number sow so i could try to make some simple costing.

As to some studies pigs on slotted flooring grows faster than those who are raised in concrete.
Some farms also noticed those pigs which is raised in slotted floor from birth to midgrower stage and transfered into a concrete floor midgrower to finisher grows even faster than those raised in full slotted from birth to finisher.

Use plywoods to guide them toward the farrowing pen. AS much as possible walang tao sa lalakaran ng baboy lagi po dpat nasa likod kayo ng inahin then use plywoods/board para itulak sila papunta dun sa farrowing pen. 2 to 3 person po sna ang magmove ng animal .The two will hold the board at gagawa sila ng korteng "V" para ipitin ang baboy mula sa puwitan at yun isa ang taga tapik. Para sa sanay na inahin usually isang tao na lang ang nagtatransfer nito kasi sanay na ang inahin na lumakad. Then dapat gawan nila ng tungtungan ang inahin paakyat ng farrowing pen or kahit inclined plane.

Formulation meron dito sa forum about basic feed formulation paki check na lang sa forum search function.
In terms of machineries ala akong pricelist. Pero kung bibili ka ng machine for your 10 sow medyo hindi adviseable. Usually kasi atleast mga 50 sow above some suggest 100-200 sow level para maging cost effective ang pagbili ng machine and self mixing ng feed nila.

Just for update since this topic is a little bit older. I am an OFW from Singapore and had just started up for a small piggery here in Bacolod. Sir 10 days ago I bought 10 heads of piglets and honestly I have a zero knowledge in raring for a pig. Can you please help me how the staging of the feeding will be followed. I just rely on the feeds readily available in our place. First of all I started for a hog pre starter. How long will this feeding last until I will change for another feed until until my harvest. I am targeting for a 4 months harvest.

After mabenta disinfect it for 3 days then rest the pen for 1-2 weeks before loading another batch..

Ang pananaw ko lang difference between conventional at indigenous or free range..
Much better kung ang mga alaga mo mataas ang lahi naka conventional,, parang katulad din yan sa may mga breed na aso kailangan mo ng TLC sa kanila iba ang approach ng management mo para sa kanila compare kung mga chopsuey na mga lahi, or native pig malalakas ang resistance nila para sa sakit at sa stress kaya ilalagay sila sa free range...

Hello po! Bago lang ako nagregister sa site nato. I have read a lot of post and comments too. Lage pa kasi ako nagsesearch for more info's para makapagsimula ako ng sarili kong swine and poultry business. Magreresign na po ako sa work ko so soon kasi manganganak ako this year. Plano ko magtry ng swerte ko sa swine and poultry farm business kasama ang partner ko. Gusto po kasi namin maghands-on na lang sa farming. Small scale lang po muna around 8 for fattening at 2 lang na inahin. About sa chicken, titingnan pa namin kung ilan ang kaya ng budget namin.

I'm also new to this business, ask ko lang po kasi meron na po ako alaga 12 biik, nabili ko for 2,500 each kasi medyo malaki na po
at and price po ng 1 sack of feeds ay 1,100 pesos. and isang sako po ay tumatagal ng 3 to 4 days, sabi po ng tito ko within 3months lang pwede na ibenta mga pig kasi malalaki na.
sa tingin nyo po ba tama yung paraan namin? hindi na po ako gumastos sa pagawa ng kulungan kasi meron na po ang lolo ko. I'm from caloocan, at ang piggery po namin ay sa lobo batangas sa bhay ng lolo ko.

feedpro started as santeh feeds, bale dati kilala sila bilang feeds manufacturer ng aquaculture then nag tayo din sila ng line for hog raising.
so far ok naman ang feedback sa feedpro.
