Post by: gammy on February 17, 2008, 05:32:13 AM: mr hog thanks for the video...i saw the design of the farm...just wanna comment on the design coz you need to cover the rays of the sun penetrating thru your sows/gilts which is not good for the animals in a gestating pen particularly if during hot weather....you might have high incidence of heat stroke or abortion in the future if not corrected..thanks....

Post by: melvs on February 17, 2008, 08:53:38 PM: hey, i can't say that i am new here coz i always read all the comments and information in this site coz i started also this swine business there in the philippines. i am OFW. i just get inspired sa mga picture ng mga piggery nyo coz i think it coz a lot of investment. right now i have a small piggery building. 12 ipitan ng inahin. but right now i only have 2 sow and 3 gilt. also have 23 piglets and i am planning to get gilts froms those piglets. small business p lang and i hope it will grow similar to all of your business. the main problem i think is the coz of the FEEDS. it getting higher. if i get the picture of my small and humble piggery. i will post it also.

6 ft high surrounding your fence? not in the pen? would it cover the rays of the sun inside the pen? a tarpulin or any strudy plastic cover will do on the side of your pen for easier management but if the pen sides is at 6 ft, then that's too high...

thats good po...just make sure sows are in a comfortable area as possible coz that area will be your factory in your business....making sure that this area is at the end of the farm so that less people can enter for biosecurity purposes...

hey, i only have 5 sows. starting p lng kc but my initial plan is 12 sows with in this year.
for temporary nag-aalaga muna me ng fattener. sayang kc time habang naghihintay manganak mga inahin. also, dun n rin me kukuha sa mga fattener na inaalagaan nmin na gagawing inahin para sure.

i am a newbie in this business and i am still not 100% sure about this business that is why i try to control my investment. maybe when i return home, because i am working here abroad, i will fully engage and manage into this business. right now i can see that the price of pigs in the market are getting higher and higher. the only problem i think is the FEEDS because the price also increases.
anyway, gud luck and NICE FARM again, keep posting dude.

mr hog; your right!!! i think it is proportional to the price of pigs in the market so we can still gain profit.
the design of your farm is very nice, do u have a designer? do u have cause analysis for your building? how much did you spent per room? approximately.

Combination ng concrete and steel po ginamit namin sa fattener pens, combination of 10mm and 1" steel pipe sa gilt pens. sa roofing naman standard wood and GI sheets.

Cost us around 80k (includes labor) for the 8mx8m housing (2 fattening pens and 9 gilt pens) for our second building (as seen on Lenaca's PigFarm 1).

Our first building (link below) constructed almost 2 years ago used the same material and houses 5 fattening pens (2mx3m) that can hold up to 6 fatteners (growing stage) but can accommodate 10 piglets (starter stage). There is a 2mx3m used as stockroom for our feeds and medicines. the building cost us around 100k.
