Title: Swine flu in the Philippines Post by: nemo on April 28, 2009, 10:02:43 PM Swine flu is common in the Philippines but do not be alarm for the swine flu that we have here is of different strain/mutation from what is spreading in Mexico, USA , and UK.
As what the news say the primary transmission of this flu is from human to human contact. And the flu virus is a mutation of swine, avian and human flu. So it is safe to eat pork. Title: Re: Swine flu in the Philippines Post by: Adven on April 29, 2009, 08:18:43 AM Yes,this wide spread epidemic on swine alarmed me a lot. Pano po ba jan sa tin sa pinas Doc? Ala ba cases ng swine flu jan satin? Ala ba recent updates from DOH kung may case na ng swine flu virus patients jan satin just like those in America and other countries? Dami na pla number of casualties dahil sa virus na to.There's no more Filipino Channel here in my region sa Japan. From: "Leah B. Dorado" <leah.dorado@pic.com>Add sender to Contacts To: undisclosed-recipientsMessage contains attachmentsNorth American Influenza advice 2009-0429.pdf (47KB)Hi, In response to growing public concern on reports of the so-called swine flu outbreak, attached file here encapsulates key facts about the influenza (which should be aptly termed “North American influenza A” or H1N1), precautionary measures for human health, and PIC biosecurity procedures for pig health. “Swine flu” is a wrong name for this new strain that has been causing confusion and unnecessary concerns on pork products and swine herd. The Office International des Epizooties, commonly known OIE or World Organization for Animal Health, has already released statements that the current influenza, because it contains avian and human components and because no pig has been found ill, should be accurately called the “North American Influenza” based on its geographic origin. To date, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that it has not found any evidence to indicate that any of the illnesses occurring in the US and Mexico resulted from contact with pigs. Influenza is a respiratory health issue and is in no way transmissible via food products. We hope you pass this on to minimize the risk to ourselves, our business partners and customers, and to rectify widely-spread misinformation on pork products and swine herd. Regards, Leah B. They have given the impression that the human-swine flu can be transferred from swine to human. Title: Re: Swine flu in the Philippines Post by: mikey on May 04, 2009, 08:14:50 AM Now CONFIRMED,human to swine,Alberta Canada. Now you have to protect your hogs from humans.Wonder how one fits a mask onto a hogs face.
Title: Re: Swine flu in the Philippines Post by: nemo on May 04, 2009, 03:30:02 PM Then we need to depopulate the human race, all confirmed cases should be depopulated ;D just kidding.
Strict monitor in the airports and seaports are now being conducted by the government. Let's just hope that because the Philippines is so polluted that even a virus cannot survive. ;D Title: Re: Swine flu in the Philippines Post by: mikey on May 05, 2009, 11:28:02 AM Doc,
the fallout has already started, countries now closing their borders to Cdn. pork products.Another tough year for hog producers worldwide, was hoping to start up our production again, now not sure.Hogs in Canada have fallen another $20.00 Cdn per head this week.Pork demand is falling. Title: Re: Swine flu in the Philippines Post by: nemo on May 06, 2009, 12:12:05 PM Pork in the Philippines is slightly picking up.
Because the Philippines is banning pork from Canada their is a slight chance that demand here in the Philippines will pick up and backyard raiser will gain from it. |
