Title: Supply & Demand
Post by: mikey on November 12, 2007, 04:16:46 PM
Doc, what is the supply side of hogs now in the Phillipines?what is the demand side?I would think that the supply is steady with current demands, this could all change if the supply side grows too fast, demand drops off,the price for pork would also drop (crash).Worried that if too many operations start up,supply rises but not always demand, all current producers will have a tougher time in the business.

Demand is increasing but supply is not stable.

Due to the outbreak in region 3 where as about maybe 5T sows have aborted, die etc. And estimate that every sow could produce 10 piglet then that is about 50t pigs less this coming year. And it would need around 6 months to a year before we could recover.

In terms of population because the Philippine is a baby factory for sure there will always a demand.
