Ngayon pa lang ako magsisimulang mag alaga ng baboy. gusto ko lamang sana malaman kung magkano maaaring ibenta ang isang full grown hog. depende ba ito sa kilo ? depende ba sa merkado ?

Nais ko malaman dahil baka nde sapat ang kita ko para mapangalagaan ang nais ko simulang negosyo.

Backyard in bulacan would range today from 75-82 pesos per kilo liveweight

SO, if your animal is 85 kgs x 75 per kilo= 6375 pesos.

In some area there are bracket system on which animal below 80 kgs will have a different pricing compared to those above 80 kgs (usually much cheaper).

Good Day.
As a beginner on piggery business. I would like to ask about the timing of the buyer to acquire our fatteners
(slaughter pigs). Suppose to be the fatteners will not be given feeds and water for the whole day as instructed by the buyer before they come to weigh the pigs. It so happen that my caretaker forgot to
cut- off or close the water line in the morning and only do so after lunch. At 3pm when the buyer comes they found out that water was dripping out in the nipple drinkers. So they refuse to weigh the pigs and
tells my caretaker that they will just come back the following day at 7am.

My questions are: "Are there losses incurred in the live-wieght kilo of the fatteners due to  fasting for almost
24 hours?" Did we make mistakes for selling the fatteners the following morning?" 25 heads are involved.

A fattening pig could drink around 6 liters per day and eat around 2-3 kgs per day. This would stay in the animals digestive system and would register as weight even though this is not yet converted into muscle etc.

This is why biyahero want animal that is fasted to eliminate any food in its digestive system.

In terms of  muscle weight there would be no loss.

Usually 12 hours is the fasting time that is required by biyaheros.

This is the normal practice is selling hogs.

try mo mag benta ng Carcass weight para fair play on both party sa timbang. mas mataas ang price nito compare selling price ng  live

Dito ka din pala sa Mindanao sir slyfox. May alam kaba kung saan pwede magbenta ng fattening na baboy o piglets? iyong mataas ang presyo. dito ako sa GSC, ang backyard ko ay nasa polomolok.

Rough Translation:  In luzon your animal should undergo fasting prior to selling.  according to the buyers there is about 4 to 5 kilos unnecesary weight gain if the animal is not fasted.

Luzon area do that because prices og hog are high here and buyer squeezes every penny they can.

Try to sell you hog in carcass weight to be fair on both party. carcass weight is higher than liveweight.


I see your from mindanao also sir slyfox.  Do you know where can i sell my fatteners or piglet, buyers with a good price. Im from GSC, and my backyard is in polomok

Yup culled sow price would range from 45-60 pesos (bulacan) per kilo.  although the price is low but because of the bulk of the sow which usually range 200 kgs up  once you sold one you only need a thousand or 2 thousand more to buy a high breed gilt.

    magandang araw po sa kanilang lahat...doc matanung ko lang po alm nmn po nating lahat na patuloy na tumataas ang feeds(pagkain sa alaga)at kung di ako nagkakamali higit sa isang beses sa isang taon kung magtaas ang mga feeds company sa kanilang produkto..at sa ganitong sistema lumiliit ang kita ng mga hog farmers,at kung mataas ang feeds tataas din syempre ang liveweight price at tataas din ang presyo sa palengke,at dhil sa mahal ang presyo ng baboy uunti ang bibili tama po ba?may tendency po ba doc na humina ang piggery sa bansa?

If all reports that is circulating the news is true up to June July the price is still high. It might dwindle in August to October but in general the average price of hog for this fiscal year might be the most profitable even if prices of feeds increase, this is for my opinion.

The usual trend before is that at june to october prices drop drastically 5- 10 pesos. But this year it might not happen.

Uunti ang bibili? I don't think so, we are a pork loving country and small changes on the buying habit of the filipino family can't affect the price of pork that drastically.

Piggery business is trying to penetrate the international market. So if the project materialize not all supply will be produced for the Philippine market alone. This would give better stability on the supply and demand side.

On the feed side, manufacturer could try to alter their ingredients to be more competitive.
