In order to help our industry and collect stats, would be great if other producer(s) list their liveweight prices they get from the region in which they farm.

We have a video of that link here at the video section. I added that November 15, with permission of the owner. I think that is 3 videos.

f2-8k
f3-10k
f4-12-15k
price varies depends on the breeder/farm

mikey,
is the price high for the goats for slaughter or for breeders?whats the price range there?
i think one reason why is it cheaper there is because of the land area and the free forage that you could acquire. here in bulacan most lands are converted into subdivisions,malls,buildings,etc...grass is really scarce during summer.thats why we are teaching our animals to eat "ginikan".
most of the goat enhusiast here are into intensive.very laboroious.feeds are made here desingned for goats like the product of asvet and nutrimix.
i really dont know negros oriental, never been there... but as my farmhand from negros told me that there are larger lands there ideal for animals and corn is cheaper there...well almost all is cheaper there...

Last month for slaughter goats at the local livestock sales, any goat would only bring the producer P1000 per head, did not matter about breed. On the other hand our farm is very remote in Region 7 and all the goats are trucked to Cebu, then on to Manila from my understanding.Breeders have no value here as there is no interest in goat farming.Corn is expensive no matter where one farms. Our goats are 100% confined under the cut and carry system.Maybe some day goats will catch on but not today in our district.

mikey,
whhoaaa..1k per head?how many kilos per head?..its really hard to find a 1k goat here even if its native. ive heard that most of the goats in manila are coming from the visayas region. they come in bulk.
when i started goat raisng goats here are at 50-60pesos per kilo liveweight. i stopped at 75-80 per kilo live weight.i just maintained a few and convert the land for fightingcocks.
then last year(october 2008) a buyer came to me buying my goats at 100 per kilo liveweight..then during december it even became 120per kilo liveweight.so i decided to get back to goats again.
maybe people there are not into eating goats.hehe..

The buyers take advantage of the local people in the remote areas here in the Visayas. They tell me that Manila needs 500 goats everyday for meat. The main reason why people here do not want to raise goats is because at P1000 per head you loose money.A nice native at 25 kilos at P1000 is nothing but when you talk about the upgrades with anglo or boer blood at P1000 makes no sence to get into goat farming. Here it is more hog and cattle country. Some of us are counting on the fact that goats will have a future at some point so we keep on farming waiting for our turn.I have found a buyer from Negro Occ.but he needs volume before he brings his trucks down to our area. When we are ready I am going to try and organize the farmers here to see if we can sell our goats in a large lot and get the buyer to come down and give the farmers a better income from their goats. We let some of the local farmers use some of our bucks for breeding to their native does to help our area.I do not think many people here eat goats that is true.

mikey,
region 7 is very lucky to have someone like you.i hope your plan works.if the pricing there for goats stays that way the goat industry there would not flourish.traders would be the one to get rich not the farmers. 1000k for a 25 kilo of native thats more than half of the price here.goat meat is healthy meat low in cholesterol local government could promote the meat. if people there would learn how to eat goat meat then price may get high enough for farmers to earn.
in our seminar last year Neo Abalos told us that he'll be buying goat anywhere in luzon for 100peso a kilo minimum of 50heads(to maximize his truck).i dont know if he's already buying from the visayan region.maybe he could help or have an arangement to lower the 100 pesos to compensate for the transportation expense.at 80pesos for a 25kilos thats 2000k, a 100% increase.even at 60 pesos per kilo with a mark up of 500pesos for a 25 kilo native is not bad at all. they are already processing goat meat into choice cuts and goat tapa.

Our area in Region 7 is district-1 closer to the border to Negros Occ.There are some big buyers in Negros Occ.but they need volume to make it worth their time and expence.I think on the island of Cebu the prices are higher for goats, its the transportation to get them there.Maybe Dumaguete City has higher prices I am not sure but here in the mountain area it is cheap for goats so far.The local DA in our area is trying to help get the goat industry going also,it will just take some time to work it all out,I do believe their is a future in the goat business.

Law of supply and demand is working in your situation.
Traders charged only 1000 pesos because they know the demand in your area is low and you have no choice but to sell the animal at the same time by doing so, they can compensate for the transpo cost going to Manila.
THe only way the price of goat meat will increase in your area is by consumer demand. If people would eat more goat meat in your area then demand will increase and price will increase.
In the hog industry, usually areas near metro manila like bulacan have high liveweight and does beyond bulacan has a lower price, If bulacan is 100 then Neuva ecija would be 95. But when demand is so high and there is little supply in Bulacan the prices of liveweight beyond Bulacan area is much higher, If bulacan is 100 then neuva ecija would be 105.
