Ah, so if the GP is avquired here in the Phils (PIC, J&J, etc) it better because it is somehow climatized already. I heard or read in some forums, it is kinda risky to have a GP. I have also read that it is better to house them on a soil bedidng pen?
Thanks for the reply doc.

LIVESTOCKS / SWINE / pure breeds

Hi there, i have been scanning and reading a lot of forums about hog/swine business. Usually, swine farm owners or maybe forum members buy F1 gilts for there farm. Is it really hard to manage a pure breed hog? Does it require a different approach in terms of vaccination programs, feedings, supplements, housing and management? Our farm is located far from manila (bulacan, batangas, rizal, etc), to be specific, we are located at sorsogon. Tip of luzon (Southern). It would be very hard for us to buy F1 from farms in manila, because of the shipment and the risk on it. Travel time is 12 hrs from manila. So, is it really hard to breed pure breeds for producing F1 gilts?
Thanks in advance...

Kinda off topic question.
Is it really hard to take care of pure breed pigs? Does it require different methods of vacc, housing, farm management. etc.
Thanks....
