Sirs,
Anyone can advise were can acquire a Brachiaria brizantha, Centrosema pubescens, Centrosema molle Mart, Indigofera and Mulberry cuttings or seeds here in Leyte or region 8 area. I am starting to establish my salad garden to be used in rotational grazing. This will be planted on a 7 hectare land so I will need a large number of volumes of planting material.

Sirs,
Hi, does anyone from the group who has a lot of knowledge in the procedure and paper works of transporting Cattle from Luzon to Visayas to please share your expertise especially on the quarantine issue.
Actually I am planning to buy a pure breed Brahman Cattle from "ANSA GENETIC" in Lipa Batangas. So if anybody has an idea kindly post your suggestion. I know we have some restriction of transporting an animal to the "FMD FREE ZONE AREA" which Leyte is a part of that mentioned area. But I believe there must be some quarantine procedure to follow in order to transport an animal but I have no idea on how it is being done. Any advised that could help is highly appreciated.

Sir Nemo,
Is there a government program that deals with cattle semen importation wherein we can order and specify what breed we can import? This would be a great help to those farmer with limited fund that would like to upgrade their herd. If anyone knows somebody who does AI for cattle in region 8 or in Leyte kindly refer me to them. Thank you.

Sir DonT,
Napier Grass is excellent as forage since it is a species of grass native to the tropical grasslands like ours. However it is a tall perennial plant, growing to 2–4.5 meters (6.6–14.8 ft) tall, rarely up to 7.5 meters (25 ft) can definitely be a problem if introduce to coconut land for the harvesting of coconut. What I am trying to envision is a pasture land under coconut trees that can support rotational grazing for the whole year round. For this we are maximizing the output of the land. Does anybody have tried using Napier grass in rotational grazing under coconut plantation considering over stocking in controlling the height of Napier grass so that it will not go beyond 60 cm and not be a problem in harvesting of coconut. And is this Napier grass can be associated with legumes like stylo in order to have a 60:40 grass/legume mixture ratio to add more nutritive value of the forage? I am emphasizing here the rotational grazing to lessen the labor cost that will be incurred if it will be on a cut and carry basis of feeding the cattle. So if we can only develop a pasture land under coconut plantation that can support a whole year round of grazing for cattle, I guess this is great since we are not only maximizing the utilization of the land by introducing cattle but also increasing the coconut production through fertilization of coconut tree by the manure of the cattle that will produce. If a 450kg cow can produce 13.5kg of manure per day then it is like adding 4927kg of manure per year as a fertilizer for the coconut. Kindly share your comment it maybe a great help. Thank's.

I believe that in venturing into cattle farming or carabao farming, first one must take into cosideration is the availability of forages. This is the reason why I am starting to open on this new topic that focus on growing grass. I am asking from somebody who could add some input in improving the pasture land by introducing other species of grass to add more nutrition for the cattle. Does anybody knows were to purchase a locally produce Bracharia decumbens seeds which I am planning to introduce into my pasture. And also does this stylo seeds from Ubay Bohol can grow in a whole year round to support for rotational grazing. Also, is this rye grass can be grown in Philippines? Any input from the group is highly appreciated.
Many thanks for taking the time to read this long post,

What we are aware is the importation of Murrah Carabao.
As for buying 'imported' Brahman breeds. Mr. Ian Abalos (San Mateo, Rizal) and Mr. Edwin Sanchez (Lipa, Batangas) keeps and sells 'pure' Brahman Cattle. Sir DonT,
Is it possible to buy a cattle from Luzon and be brought to Leyte? I believe there is a restriction on transporting any cattle from luzon to FMD free zone. Or can you refer anybody who has a purebreed brahman heifer and bull from FMD free zone area that has no restriction on transporting to Tacloban Leyte? I am very much interested in aquiring a pair of purebreed brahman. Can I have a contact number of Mr. Sanchez maybe they can arranged this restriction of FMD free zone through proper quarantine procedure. I really don't have any idea on cattle farming please need your advise.
Also with regards to Murrah Carabao I am very much interested in aquiring it in fact I just recently bought 3 native carabao and planning it to cross breed with murrah breed. If you know somebody who has a for sale of Murrah Bull please let me know. Thank you.

Sir,
I would like to know how can we aquire an imported Bhrahman Bull from the government through this Cattle Importation program by DAR. I am planning to venture into cattle farming and it is better if we can start the right breed that is suitable to our tropical climate. Please advise us to whom we can talk to, or agency that deals in the importation of Cattle. Thank you.
