77  LIVESTOCKS / Small ruminant (sheep and goat) / Re: Castration for goat on: March 01, 2008, 07:28:54 PM
The problem with the rubber band is that it is more prone to infection.

And also, there is a issue about animal welfare. If you put rubber band every day the animal is in pain because you are stopping the blood to flow on the testicle.

If you use elastrator, it takes approximately two weeks for the scrotum to dry up and fall off.
Doc in your own opinion which castration is best for you? Burdizzo, elastrator or knife?

Inahgen 2008

It is currently going on at the SMX convention center Mall of Asia Pasay City until February 29,2008. The show will feature information about livestock products, information, services and equipment. There are also scientific seminars that you could attend for free.

As to compare with Agrilink, i do think it is better in all aspect except for the registration. In the last Agrilink it only took me 5 minutes to register but with Inahgen it took around 45 minutes before they can give me my ID pass. And it was a total disarray.

In the manly side, there are more beautiful models in the said event.
Sorry guys, i didn't took a picture of them Grin Grin Grin

Maybe tomorrow...or maybe not...

Here are some pictures taken from the event :

They have the same effect.

What you are buying in the branded is not only the product but the assurance that they have a quality and R&D of their product

81  LIVESTOCKS / SWINE / Re: Ivomec and Cevamec on: February 26, 2008, 07:54:11 AM
Doc Nemo, Pareho lang ba ang epekto ng generic (ivermectin) at branded (ivomec) o mas malakas ang epekto ng branded (ivomec)?

Thanks for the reply, I will now choose the injectable.  For it is easy to apply and the animal will recieve the exact dose. Smiley

89  LIVESTOCKS / SWINE / Re: On-line cost and return piglet production calculator. on: February 14, 2008, 10:35:19 PM
I have this sow fattening calculator it is an excel . You will just input the date breed and it will compute the time it will farrow  and days to observe for reheat.  and if you input the actual date of farrowing (there are times that the sow give birth 1-3 days early or late) it will compute when you will give the specific medicine and vaccine.

Don't you have it yet?

sorry i can't remember if i have sent it to you or not.

Wala pa po ako nyan, pwede po paki send? Thank you (doncorleone031@yahoo.com) Mas maganda po sana Doc kung maglagay kayo ng new section para dito.
90  LIVESTOCKS / DISEASES / Re: Mummified fetus on: February 14, 2008, 12:32:54 PM
Vaccine in pregnant sow is usually given late pregnancy from 6 weeks prior to farrowing.

It should not be given during the first, second trimester and early trimester cause it might cause abortion or still birth.

If you have experience this problem the sow is now considered as a carrier but unlike before it has now have some immunity from the disease.

THis immunity will lessen the problem or mummified born.

By given a vaccine the immunity of the animal will increase thus making the animal more resistant to the disease.

THe probability of giving birth to mummified fetus will always be there what the vaccine will do is to lessen the chances that this will happen.

Whether your sow will give birth to mummified this next batch is uncertain but still prevention would be a nice plan of action

Doc, what brand of vaccine can i use?
