Live weight price as of now in Pangasinan is 95 per kilo. Don't sell less than this price although most consumers tend to buy chicken as substitute to pork meat because of too low LW price of chickens.  Poultry raisers now are suffering, I suggest government should impose an SRP for this. 100-105 is enough per kilo of chicken meat.

We have turkeys  in our farm but it's only around 10 and some of the female turkeys lay eggs already.  We also have turkey chicks. Turkey meat is very expensive but its nutritional value is really superb compared to chicken meat.  Middle class i think they can afford to buy but most of the time high class families are the ones who really patronize this kind of meat product.  Installing a "lechon pabo" stand/booth later on i hope will boom in the market after a couple of years coz a lot of people are already health-conscious so they might want to try and taste roasted turkeys.

Don't get easily affected with those buyers who were asking for lower liveweight price of your fatteners. Don't sell your hogs to them.    As a backyard hog raiser, just be firm to explain to them that your fatteners are eating commercial feeds which we all know contains vitamins & nutrients needed by hogs. The current hog farm gate price posted which is as of August 4, 2010 in Gen San is from 85 to 90 per kilo. I think 85 will do. But you must check your expenses first before you decide on how much you will sell your hogs.

Hog trade prices from NFHFI.  Maybe the buyer whom you've asked for bought hogs from backyard raisers.  Usually, backyards LW price is P5 lower than that of commercial farms.  But you can ask them for a higher price especially if you're giving commercial feeds to your fatteners and not KB.
