5806  LIVESTOCKS / SWINE / Re: BEST SOWS TO KEEP? on: December 14, 2007, 02:13:22 PM
The one with more nipples have an advantage.

Things to consider:

The animal came from a sow with a good record.
Legs should be without deformity.
It should also have a good FCR.
Growth rate, if the animal averages 85 kg above in 150 days is a good candidate.

If you would need around 20 new sow you need to have around 40 candidates to monitor.  Start to choose at around 2-3  months old then final selection would be at 150 days or 5 month.

other term for estimate/bultuhan is mata-mata

So, you need to put it in a place na medyo hindi maiinit or medyo mataas ang altitude.

kung malamig sa province you then medyo mastataas ang chance na makaadapt siya agad.  Mag lalagas nga lang siya ng hair to compensate to the weather.
5814  LIVESTOCKS / CATTLE, CARABAO, GOAT & SHEEP / Re: Basic Goat Diet on: December 13, 2007, 02:11:54 PM

If it is case already we advice to use lasic tablet and if this does not work we advice them to use a catheter.

Lasix (pronounced as lasik/lasic) is not appropiate with kidney stones.  If the stones is small the build up of pressure in the kidneys would help but if it is a little bit big then it would cause more harm to your animal.

This medicine is intended for high blood, water retention problem due to failing kidneys, etc.

Better go for catheter instead.
5815  LIVESTOCKS / CATTLE, CARABAO, GOAT & SHEEP / Re: Worm problems on: December 13, 2007, 01:22:11 PM

Soy sauce as prevention?  Well the only way to prevent worm is thru management.

Although articles say it can use as dewormer pero marami na pong cheap dewormer na mabibili sa market so go with commercial dewormer nalang kahit paano kasi controled nila ang dosage nito.

Live weight po siya.  In some areas it is up to 100-140 na.
5818  LIVESTOCKS / Small ruminant (sheep and goat) / Re: Goat Breeds on: December 13, 2007, 01:09:04 PM

5819  LIVESTOCKS / SWINE / Liveweight / deadweight / Bultuhan on: December 13, 2007, 10:04:00 AM

-----------------
English version

Liveweight system= The price of the animal depends on the live weight of the animal on the scale.

Deadweight/sabit ulo= The entrails/ internal organs of the animal is removed and then the carcass is weigh.  The price per kilo of the carcass is much more higher than the liveweight.

Estimate/sabit ulo=The pigs are priced according to what the buyer and the sellers have agreed upon.
Usually sellers are in the losing side in this system.
