Try duplocillin (brand name) or amoxicillin IM.
Then add water soluble antibiotic to the whole group.

IS the red spot  irregular in shape saka nakaalsa?

We have been giving Lincospectin too.  I  told my boys to give terra l.a. prior to reading your post.  I have advocin and draxin in my medicine cabinet too.

Doc Nemo,

I have a case such as above.  They are 3 months old.  At least 4 heads in a group of 10.  Please advise.

Genie_ps at that operation you could ask for a good volume discount with your feeds.

I hope I could.  At present, I rely on suppliers who are able to help me start through their assistance by giving me longer credit terms.  Hopefully, once I am able to harvest in regular cycle, I definitely have to ask for a good volume discount.   But then again, resorting to mixing feeds from a proven formula would even be better.

Nice herd do you find the cost of the feeds to be expensive?and how do you get around that?

To be honest, the cost of feeds is really a pain in the neck.  I have been trying to educate myself on how to get around it.  Me and my wife have concluded that the only way to lessen the cost is by mixing our own feeds.  However, considering the initial capitalization for beginners like me, I still need to rely on credit terms that commercial feeds suppliers offer.

In this business, sufficiency of capital plays an important role in getting around lots of problems that hampers profitability.   But, I've seen farmers who started from small operations and now reaping the fruit of their efforts rewardingly.

sir genie may I ask your size of operation?

Sir, I have 33 active sows at present.  Still trying to expand.  Total heads inclusive of weaners, & boars = 265 heads.

hi doc! would just like to ask if the P535.92/piglet harvested is the maximum fee to be paid by monterey to its growers?

our company is currently looking for contract growers and breeders for our pigs. we will provide the stocks, vet. med., vaccines, technical support, feeds and regular visits by our pig health specialist.
the partner will provide the building, manpower, electricity and water...

if there are interested people, we will present our growers or breeders scheme to them and we will visit their farms for site inspection.

thank you very much...

lalaine,

Can you email me the details at genie_ps@yahoo.com.

Doc,
This thread is very helpful.  We have been using LincoSpectin from Pfizer.  5 days before weaning and 5 days after weaning.  Seems to be helpful.  The bigger ones, we were lucky enough to vaccinate with Flusure prior to the outbreak in Bataan area.

57  LIVESTOCKS / SWINE / Premix such as PrimeMeat and Paylean on: August 02, 2007, 08:45:03 PM
Hi.  I am a new member of this site and I am glad I found it.  I have a small farm and I'd like to know if the use of above premixes have been found beneficial by any member.   I have been often times asked by customers/meat dealers why I haven't been mixing premixes like the above.   I have so far read so much on the net about Paylean and it seems to be very encouraging.   However, I still would like to hear a 2nd opinion from this site.   The other "prime meat" (not sure of this name), has been commonly used by small scale farmer and it is a lot cheaper than Paylean.  Is that good enough?  Any advise please.
