mikey,
they're really into commercial feeding the goats ad libitum(if im not mistaken) with thier pelletized goat feed.they are more on producing breeders and formeat.im already trying their feeds coz its laborious for me to buy raw materials and mix my own.one big mistake i made is not to develope my forage i thought that what i have will be sufficient.most goat farm ive been cater only for breeder or for meat.the only dairy farm ive been to is at alaminos goat farm. i also want to venture into dairy maybe you could share some tips and tricks to me someday?..ill be getting an anglo buck this week to start again my goat project.
as a newbie im happy to see goat farm pics here in the PI and i am much happier to see it personally. goat farms abroads you can see pics on the net and its really different here.specially on housing designs.

mikey,
region 7 is very lucky to have someone like you.i hope your plan works.if the pricing there for goats stays that way the goat industry there would not flourish.traders would be the one to get rich not the farmers. 1000k for a 25 kilo of native thats more than half of the price here.goat meat is healthy meat low in cholesterol local government could promote the meat. if people there would learn how to eat goat meat then price may get high enough for farmers to earn.

in our seminar last year Neo Abalos told us that he'll be buying goat anywhere in luzon for 100peso a kilo minimum of 50heads(to maximize his truck).i dont know if he's already buying from the visayan region.maybe he could help or have an arangement to lower the 100 pesos to compensate for the transportation expense.at 80pesos for a 25kilos thats 2000k, a 100% increase.even at 60 pesos per kilo with a mark up of 500pesos for a 25 kilo native is not bad at all. they are already processing goat meat into choice cuts and goat tapa.

mikey,
maybe a pedigree would be given to hybrids for recording purporses.i believe that in these hybrids you call will come out the best goat for philippine condition..both in meat and in dairy...well work it out hopefully before the year ends we could start the project.
time will come that there would be more of us here...maybe have not yet discovered this site...

nemo,
hopefully there would be a 3rd plastic eartag  for our registered goat and that is the FGASPAPI's tag.

mikey,
dairy is good ill be venturing to dairy maybe someday...hopefully. pointers that we are trying tell beginners that goat raising is relly not that simple. unlike before that goats are just tethered or can roam freely. theres money in goats but they have to focus on forage, housing and genetics.
ill ask fellow members who have net access tovisit here. there are few of us who have access to the worldwideweb.some mebers dont even have their own email add. thats why we also share goat news, goat for sales, technologies, etc to those who dont have net access...

here is another farm:
AR-JAY Integrated FARM-
owner-ka efren abrtolome-nutrimix
location: san jose,bulacan
intensive and they use pelletized feeds
one of the big, clen and expensive goat house ive seen.people are very hospitable there.

mikey,
whhoaaa..1k per head?how many kilos per head?..its really hard to find a 1k goat here even if its native. ive heard that most of the goats in manila are coming from the visayas region. they come in bulk.

when i started goat raisng goats here are at 50-60pesos per kilo liveweight. i stopped at 75-80 per kilo live weight.i just maintained a few and convert the land for fightingcocks.

then last year(october 2008) a buyer came to me buying my goats at 100 per kilo liveweight..then during december it even became 120per kilo liveweight.so i decided to get back to goats again.

maybe people there are not into eating goats.hehe..
26  LIVESTOCKS / Small ruminant (sheep and goat) / Re: Full Blood,Full blooded,Purebred on: April 01, 2009, 04:01:41 AM
mikey,
yep genrally upgrades are the f1's,f2's,etc...thanks for the correction..i dont know about hybrids..

but in our way if a member could not certify its f1's,f2's,etc or even his fullbloods/pure...it will all be considered to one level as upgrades in our category(we couldnt think of what we call them). physically its larger than the natives so we couldnt categorize them as natives.
27  LIVESTOCKS / Small ruminant (sheep and goat) / Re: housing design on: April 01, 2009, 01:58:29 AM
mikey,
ill be posting all that i could ill be accompanying you in these forums hehe...when i started again its really hard for me...luckily a bulacan club is being formed that time...im not an expert in the field i just hope i could help.

here's a fellow members housing:
EMAUS BIBLE CAMP-mang nards(UBGSRA president)
location: mabolo,malolos,bulacan

NOTE: they use wood because it is freely available in their place.they have to cut a tree so they used the tree to build a goat house.
28  LIVESTOCKS / Small ruminant (sheep and goat) / Re: Liveweight prices region to region: on: April 01, 2009, 01:47:06 AM
mikey,
is the price high for the goats for slaughter or for breeders?whats the price range there?

i think one reason why is it cheaper there is because of the land area and the free forage that you could acquire. here in bulacan most lands are converted into subdivisions,malls,buildings,etc...grass is really scarce during summer.thats why we are teaching our animals to eat "ginikan".

most of the goat enhusiast here are into  intensive.very laboroious.feeds are made here desingned for goats like the product of asvet and nutrimix.

i really dont know negros oriental, never been there... but as my farmhand from negros told me that there are larger lands there ideal for animals and corn is cheaper there...well almost all is cheaper there...
29  LIVESTOCKS / Small ruminant (sheep and goat) / Re: Full Blood,Full blooded,Purebred on: April 01, 2009, 01:37:34 AM
mikey,
actually the honesty part is the real deal in our plan..but as a fellow member says "we have to start somewhere"...we all cannot tell who's honest or who's not...we'll just hope that 90% of our members would be honest for the year 2009 then theres a big chance bulacan herd would improve in 2010...

for purebreds and fullbloods bucks we'll be needing peds and certification to be registered in the club.for does f1,f2,f3 and f4 we do need certification/peds and it is still have to be approve by the certifying body composed of officers and members.upgrades and natives must also be submitted in members herd count.we're still finalizing on some topics like recommending of f1 bucks to be castrated so that it could not be sold as breeder bucks to farmers.

we'll be using a jiffy tag(what i used to use on my fightingcocks) all members will have their own applicator and tags that they'll be using when kids are born, the name & number on these tags are registered to the club. if a kid dies the tag should be surrendered. then our club will have its own prenumbered jiffy tag that we would use when we do a surprise visit to the members farm that reported the kidding. so there would be 2 jiffy tags on the kid until at least 4-6 months of age that we could put the plastic ear tag with the name of the club.and if the member will put his own plastic ear tag it will also be recorded.

picture will also be taken and the markings and color will be recorded.this will all be saved in a computer with a back-up hard copy.

we would be strict in implementing punisment on dishonest members.

its a tough job and additional cost for breeders...but we got to start somewhere....
30  LIVESTOCKS / Small ruminant (sheep and goat) / Re: DEWORMER BRAND on: March 31, 2009, 03:58:34 AM
i use valbazen and  fendrench. im using a drenchig syringe.valbazen is also good for flukes

for pregnant i use rintal tablet.the problem with tablet is that they could throw it out of their mouth so be sure they really swallow it. use them on pregnant sheep accidentally but it cause no problems. they all gave birth no abortions.

i suggest before deworming that do fecalysis first.provincial and BAI offices do this service or private laboratory. so you can determine if the load of parasites in you goats needs deworming.
