Good day Nemo,

My wife and I are looking at possibly starting a contract grower type agri business.  Her family has some land already in the San Fabian Pangasinan area, but we have no idea what to expect for costs to get started. I know these will be variable, but a rough estimate would be apprecaited. We would be looking at a good sized barn and up to date with technology.

Her families land is on a hill top, so it should have a good breeze and be cooler, which is advantages to poultry raising. There is also water electricity.

Any and all info would be of a big help,

Thanx,

ted n anny

I ask one fellow veterinarian and he said that the last time they build their housing it cost them around 1M for 10,000 birds. So around 100 pesos per bird.

Doc would you have a guesstimate for a tunnel vent type?  I was once a contract grower (30thousand heads).  I lost nearly a million in 3 grows.  I am contemplating a small commercial tunnel vent farm.

Sorry genie i don't have any idea about the cost.

Most people i talked too who are engaged in poultry does not approved of tunnel vent because they say you cannot justify the cost to build in relation to the current liveweight price. But they cannot give me exact figure.

to add on the topic. doc nemo i am in the contract growing business also. and i am in the middle of constructing an additional 10thou capacity for my farm. your value of 100pesos per bird has doubled already unfortunately. the constant rise of the price of raw materials is the culprit.
