Title: Chicken Industry Performance Report Jan-Dec./2006 Post by: mikey on January 07, 2008, 06:53:42 AM as of Jan.1/07,broiler inventory was estimated at 38.2 million birds,6.3% higher than last years 36.0 million birds.Broiler stocks live were concentrated in Central Luzon 34.6%,Calabarzon 25.9%.These regions accounted for about 60.5% of the total broiler stocks in the country.Layers of all ages as of Jan.1/07 reached 23.3% million birds.Calabarzon 31.8%,Central Luzon 24.9%,Northern Mindanao 12.7% were the top producers of commercial eggs.These regions were the centers of contract growing and commercial layer farms accounting for about 69.4% of the total layer stocks.Region 7,Central Visayas at 9.1%.Inventory of native or village chicken as of Jan.1/07 contracted by about 4.5% from last years inventory of 76,9 million birds.Around 50% of native chickens were raised in top producing regions namely Western Visayas 15.5%,Central Visayas 10.3%,Southern Mindanao 8.1%,Central Luzon 7.9%.IIocos region 7.2%.Commercial table eggs accounted for 75% of total egg production,while native/improved accounted for 25% of total egg production.Metro Manilas average retail price for fully dressed chicken was quoted at P101.76 per kg. or 2.0% higher than 2005 prices.The highest retail price at P113.91 per kg. was in Dec. while the lowest price of P88.75 per kg. was in August.Average wholesale price of chicken eggs in Metro Manila in 2006 was quoted at P3.80 per piece a increase of 35.7% compared to 2005s average price of P2.80 per piece.
