Title: farrowing pen type for fatteners....is it a good idea or risky set up? Post by: rain on May 30, 2008, 05:57:10 PM hi doc...
good day po sa knila, doc ask lang ng freind ko kasi may napanood sya na dvd ni ka gerry regarding sa type ng housing ng isang farm pra sa kanilang fatteners na nakakulong parang farrowing pen sya each one have their own stall, hndi nya lang matandaan kng ilang buwan ang baboy bago ilagay dun,ang tanung ko doc adviseable po ba ito?or risky sya?kasi according sa may ari less stress daw ang baboy at mare2ach nya ang target weight nya as possible kasi nga nakakulong lang sya dun at kasya lng ang buong katawan nya hanggng sa lumaki at tuluyang ibenta ibenta..thank you doc... For my opinion it is not advisable base na lang in the cost. Add to the problem is man power. You need to put feeds in every pen and it cost time, money and feed wastage. In terms of meat quality i think pigs grown in this system have inferior quality. The more an animal could move the better the quality of meat. Enough space to move... too much space will sometimes affect growth. They tend to grow much slower because they play a lot. Title: Re: farrowing pen type for fatteners....is it a good idea or risky set up? Post by: gunder_3910 on August 11, 2008, 01:11:34 AM Hello everyone,
May I ask from anyone in this forum your best designs that you can recommend for a forrowing pen designed for fattening and breeding? I agree there are risks in raising piglets, especially the suckling ones without this equipment. I also need to know their dimensions & perspective view if it wouldn't be too much to ask. Thanks a lot -gun Title: Re: farrowing pen type for fatteners....is it a good idea or risky set up? Post by: nemo on August 12, 2008, 08:55:32 PM fattening is 1 square meter per animal.
