Post by: mikey on November 26, 2007, 07:47:24 AM
conventional protein sources are too costly for the backyard producer, this prompted the search for cheap sources of protein.Studies showed that DPM contains approx. 22% CP (crude protein) and feed cost is reduced by 30% in DPM supplemented rations.DPM should make up not more than 23% of the total ration,or will become unpalatable.Molasses is an important ingredient in rice straw DPM ration for improved palatability.
Procedure:
1-poultry manure free from bedding materials is collected and sun dried for 3 days to reduce moisture content to 15%.Manure that is less than 2 months in storage is prefered.
2-Dried manure is pounded and mixed with concentrate ingredients, and molasses, resulting mixture is blended with rice straw to complete ration.Ingredients % dry matter.
1-rice straw             35%
2-DPM                     23%
3-ipil-ipil                   22%
