diatomaceous earth,I have emailed Suzanne in Texas to get her opinion.Sometimes it takes a little while before she can get back to me.She is a big goat producer and writes for Goat Rancher Magazine,if anyone knows,it is her. Will let you know when she emails me.

This is what I have found out so far.Diatomaceous Earth is used as a ground disinfectant and to control external parasites on goats.
I am not a vet,but rely on my vet for advise. Some people believe that D.E. is good for controlling worms in goats.Personally I have found no scientific evidence to support this.Should one wish to feed this to their goat(s),one must buy the food grade type.
Hope this helps:

Doc.,you are a vet,the D.E. may be okay for stomach worms, but if the worms say are in the goats other organs,I personally do not see how the D.E. can work.My vet still recommends a broad spectrum dewormer. The D.E. maybe more helpful for the external parasites on goat(s).

I do not known the Mode of action of D.E. so i can't give any light to this product.

Yes, it still best to use broadspectrum dewormer. It means less cost to the farmer side.+

we use DE in our pools to kill parasites or small insects..

for me'..if youre in a intensive approach in goat raising use a dewormer..

but if you have a large land just divide the lands into paddocks and do rotational grazing.

i have heard that DE is good there would be less worms but as you remove the DE the worms will just come back....so you have to give it the whole year...additional cost din like dewormers...

Hello all, there are three grades of D.E , industrial grade used in pools, breweries, etc as a filtering agent.Next is feed grade which is used as feed supplement which has many benefits for all animal. It is an effect dewormer,it allows one to get the most from the feed given to all animal as it aids the animal to process almost 100% of feed, food protein.Another bonus to that is that the animal's manure will have next to no odor which translates into no flies and no complaining neighbors.
Hanging an old rice sack over a barn doorway is a great way to dust any animal to prevent ticks, mites, etc. If you have a problem with ants, termites, cockroaches, spread a little D.E around and your problem will be gone in a couple of days.
D.E is great for the poultry farmer. It can be used as a duster and mixed with the feed, will reduce manure odor, lessen the flies, and into the egg business, chickens feed D.E produce larger and a thicker shelled egg.
Next grade of D.E is food grade. This grade is used as an anti caking agent in feeds and flour. It is also used by comedic companies. Many people take this grade of D.E internally for the many claimed benefits like lowering of one's cholesterol, plus it is used as a detoxifier .
If you have any further questions or would like more info on D.E,feel free to contact us at scott_enterprises@ymail.com or CP#09186203208 . We are also a D.E supplier {feed grade} located in Davao City,Philippines
