Believe it or not, a goat kid of either sex can be fertile at 7 weeks of age. That is not to say that they should be bred at this age. Intact bucks and does over 7 weeks of age should not be kept together because a young buck can, and will, breed a female at 2 months of age, this includes his mother and 2 month old sister!

Doods,I can only speak about our farm,in general, a goat will double its self every year.We wean our goat(s) at 4 months of age, usually the doe,(if her body condition is in good shape) will be ready for breeding approx. 2 months after weaning, some may take longer. The doe will let you know when she is ready for rebreeding. In general,a goat is usually around 12 months old before her body weight is ready for breeding,it is not uncommon for some first time mothers to be 18 months old before ready for breeding.Does bred too young usually will abort the offspring.

Doods, goats generally have offspring once per year, alot depends on the body condition of the goat. Some of the imported breeds may take a little longer before they are ready to breed. It comes down to the care of the animal, skinny animals have poor body condition. The goat(s) body condition is really important when it comes to reproduction.
