Hello Nemo,

The first time I found your site, I had to have this post addressed. I hope you could reply to this.

I have a take out counter and scraps of food has ballooned that could feed 3 pigs thereabouts. Since my dad died, me & my siblings were left with several hectares of land where we are being paid rent for the land of about 50 sacks of corn. Just last week, I was able to construct a 10 sq. met. pig pen and these 2 piglets could not eat all the scrap food I had been feeding them.

In about a month and a half we will be harvesting rice & corn. I could easily come up with 20 sacks of rice bran & about 50 sacks are to be paid the person who is renting our land.

What's interesting is that my take-out counter demands us to butcher 1 hog per week. If I could complete 1 cycle (which is about 4 months), my take-out counter would need 14-16 hogs -which I really would want to raise on a 2000 sq meter i have near my house, to cater to my food business.

My question is, how would I prepare these available feeds so that I might be able to sustain my pigs? What food materials should I be able to purchase to supplement these available materials? What would be an ideal percentage food constituency would I be formulating in order to meet the basic diet needs of the pigs

Thanks,

Gun

There are feed formula here. You could try this.

Good thing you have a take out counter. Being the one which will buy your own produce  your target is too just fatten the animal into a size suitable for your operation. If you want to  really push through with 14-16 pig then  you need to get 5 piglets per month until you reach 14-16. By doing so you after 5-6 months you could slaughter 5 pigs per month.

If you fatten it using scrap foods it would take 5-6 months to reach around 60-80 kgs.
-----

if you want to slaughter pig in just 4 months that would weight about 80kgs above, you need to buy commercial feeds.

I have seen some people use commercial feeds in the pre starter stage and starter then when it is time to feed growing feeds they shift to scrap food. This give them good profit although it would take 5 months before they can sell their animal at 80 kgs ave.
