Title: Starting a swine business (english plz) Post by: eldon on October 28, 2010, 09:47:03 PM Good day, i was reading some of these topics, however i cant speak tagalog. i'm wondering if someone could explain some general information on investing into a swine (farrow to finish type) operation. im planning on buying land and setting up some hog projects over there, my wife is from there which allows me to venture with this kind of thing, it would be great to connect with some individuals that have similiar interests. a few questions i have.. what is the estimated number for feed costs for a weanling pig to finish?? wages for working staff etc etc. we plan on pursuing this venture in bicol. thnkx! :)
Title: Re: Starting a swine business (english plz) Post by: mikey on October 29, 2010, 10:32:06 AM Well,its not such a simple question,first of all,where or who is your market.Do you need permits,near a water source or not and all you can expect is really an average.If like me you are in a remote area then your costs will be higher than someone nearer a larger area.Wages can run you from P150-P200 per person per day and if they live at your farm then you are responsible for their room and board and any medical expences.This is only an average to give you some idea.
- financial start up-initial capital: P80,000. per sow needed for the 1st yr of operation of the farm, includes cost of the sow, feeds,meds, building and equipment. Building of equipment: P 40T/sow Feeds: approx. P30/day/sow Gilts-7 mos old, costs approx. P9,500 Boar costs approx, P20,000 - P30,000 Medicines and vaccines: 3% of the total cost of feed Like I said,average only.Best of luck with your venture. |
