In some farm they have separate farm (located in two different barangay or municipality) for sows and growing pigs. The reason behind this is to prevent the spread of disease rapidly from fatteners to sow and vice versa.

Just like what happen in bulacan and neuva ecija last year when hog cholera and swine influenza hit this area farms housing both sow and growers together is hit the most.

Because setting up this system is costly most farm just employ stricter biosecurity.

Yup stricter biosecurity, they have foot bath in every housing. No other person allowed in the farm. Haulers/biyaheros are only allowed insdie the farm. they must wait in the loading bay. etc.

Good luck to your farm. Wish you the best
