Doc Nemo,

Salamat

Jim

Usually this is a problem encountered if you acquire your gilts all at the same time.

THe only way to program your production is to sacrifice one or two heat cycle but this will be financial burden for your part.

Example:

If 4 animal will come to heat this month. You will only breed the 3 and the other sow will be mated in the next heat cycle/ next month. And if that time come and if more than 3 sows are to be mated drop another sow and mate only 3 sows.

Draw back is that from the 3 mated you are not sure that they will not return to heat (maglandi uli/di nagtuloy ang pagbubuntis.)

------------------------------------------------

I think the best option you can do if you are into breeding to fattening system is to sell first your piglets to have enough funds.  then wait for the sows to fail on its own, chances are  there is a 10-20% failure in breeding. Those sow that failed will be the one that will be programmed. Breed it in the month with the least sows to be bred.

IF you want to add a new gilt anticipate what month you have the least scheduled mating then count 2 months backward that is the best time to buy a gilt assuming the gilt is 6 months old.

Also you need to add another farrowing pen if you want to add a gilt
