Let’s cook easy to make fish products

The Filipino patterns in eating and preparing food have changed. These  changes are due to the increase in the number of women joining the workforce. Another reason is the western influence on acceptance of fast foods. Hence, there is an increased demand for instant or convenience foods, which are easy to prepare, taste good and provide the desired nutrients.

Fish Quekiam

Ingredients for quekiam

1/2 kilo fish meat (dalagang bukid)

1/4 kilo shrimp meat

1 egg (well beaten)

1/2 cup chopped onion

1/2 cup chopped singkamas

1/2 cup celery

1/2 cup chopped carrots

1/2 cup flour

1 1/2 teaspoons nguyong powder

1/2 teaspoons salt

1 1/2 tablespoon salt

taupee wrapper

cooking oil

Procedure in making the quekiam

1 separate the fish meat from the skin and bones .

2 Grind or chop fish meat and shrimp.

3 Add all ingredients to the meat and shrimp and mix throughly.

4 wrap the mixture with the taupee wrapper.

5 place the mixture in the refrigerator for five minutes if aluminum foil or plastic is used as wrapper.

6 Fry the quekiam in hot cooking oil. Ifaluminum foil or plastic was used as wrapper, remove it first before frying the quekiam.

7. serve the quekiam with sweet and sour sauce.

Ingredients for sweet-sour sauce

3/4 cup water

1 tablespoon vinegar

1/4 cup sugar

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon soy sauce

monosodium glutamate

Procedure in a making the sauce

1 mix all the ingredients throughly.
