Hello, ;D

We have turkeys  in our farm but it's only around 10 and some of the female turkeys lay eggs already.  We also have turkey chicks. Turkey meat is very expensive but its nutritional value is really superb compared to chicken meat.  Middle class i think they can afford to buy but most of the time high class families are the ones who really patronize this kind of meat product.  Installing a "lechon pabo" stand/booth later on i hope will boom in the market after a couple of years coz a lot of people are already health-conscious so they might want to try and taste roasted turkeys. ::) :D

I am sure I did a posting some many threads back about turkey raising.

The baby chicks are born blind and if left on the ground the ants will kill the poults.Found it better to keep the baby turkey poluts off the ground away from the ants.

Turkeys also hate strangers coming to the farm and will sound the alarm if they feel threatened for any reason.Good early warning alarm system.

Turkeys will eat a fair amount of food per day and we raise ours on cracked corn, grated coconut, bananas and banana leaves and they will pick at different leaves and grasses.

In my area, they sell live for P800.00 each and seems to be for festivals and such.True at Christmas time foreigners will buy for Christmas dinner.

Lechon turkey or deep fried is lip smacking good.

Hi mikey,

Selling live turkeys at 800 pesos each but how many kilos is it?  May I just ask where do you live? Thanks.   8)

The turkeys are sold live between 8 months and 1 year old, mature birds.Have never scaled them because people buy them live.In our area of Negros Oriental turkeys sell for P800.00 each live and is seasonal. With the holiday season coming we hope the foreigners that live in our area will buy again this coming season but after school graduation people buy them instead of pork.We have 2 different seasons for the turkeys,Christmas and graduation time.

If someone wanted a lechon turkey business, one would make even more money over live sales.

Hope this is of some help to you
