17th National Hog Farmers Convention JULY 3 - 4, 2008
The National Federation of Hog Farmers, Inc. or NFHFI, a non-stock, non-profit umbrella organization of swine raiser associations in the Philippines, is set to conduct the 17th National Hog Farmers Convention.
Spearheaded by NFHFI national chairman Gabriel Uy, vice chairman Renato Eleria, and host association JSR Hog Farmers Association, the convention will gather some of the country's leading authorities and institutions in the local hog industry. The event will also be attended by national and local government officials, SBMA officers, and foreign suppliers.
For this year we chose the theme "FOOD SECURITY THROUGH ANIMAL HEALTH!" realizing that a recurrence of the disease outbreak for swine which happened the past two years will seriously aggrevate the food crisis that our country is facing. We commercial raisers vow to adapt the strongest most advanced measures to battle swine diseases, thereby reducing mortalities to boost production. But since backyard constitute 70% of hog production we will embark on a project supported by the Bureau of Animal Industry and the Philippine College of Swine Practitioners to educate our backyard raisers on proper husbandry and disease control.
The two-day event will have Free Seminars and forums from agricultural industry's major players like San Miguel B-meg, Univet agricultural products, Pfizer animal health, Itochu corporation, Carrington trading among others.
The event will also feature exhibitions from veterinary drug companies, breeder companies, and other partners from the private sector, the government, and non-government organizations.
